Kindergarten is working on patterns for their “Me” book covers. We laid different colored caps on the rug in patterns and then moved on to drawing patterns and using cut out shapes to make patterns. First graders and Mrs. Henk’s class are finishing up their self-portraits with a spring background and yarn hair. They have been studying themselves carefully in mirrors. Second grade classes are finishing up their layered landscapes using space to fit all the parts together well. They have come up with some creative ways of finishing their landscapes. All third grade classes are at various stages of their self-portrait project. Some are adding color while others are drawing the parts of their faces. Our emphasis is detail and trying to notice all of the different parts that make up our own faces. We are also working on proportion, which involves comparing the sizes of the different parts of the face to make everything fit together correctly.
