Kindergarten has also completed two different pre-assessments. These projects will come home at the end of the year with post-assessments and I hope you see a lot of growth in what your child can do!
We have started the year with a school—wide project. Students and staff are creating “dots”! We read the story called The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. It is the story of a girl named Vashti who is frustrated that she can’t draw. Her art teacher encourages her and she takes off, creating all sorts of different creative dots. The story ends with Vashti encouraging a little boy the same way her teacher did. “Make a mark and see where it takes you” is a quote from the story. So we have all made our own marks by creating wood circles with various designs. After Kindergarten finishes next week, I will put the circles together into a large mural. We will finish this school-wide project with a mural unveiling later this month. Watch for more information about that unveiling soon.
