Kindergarten students began the year by meeting the art teacher and drawing a picture of themselves.  This drawing will be put into a book of self-portrait drawings that the students will do throughout  the year.  In first, second and third grades, we have begun the year discussing how our B rules look in  the art room, drawing self portraits for our sketchbook covers, and beginning a mural project.  We have reviewed lines and shapes that the students have learned in the past, and then we used them to create a design for a  tongue depressor.  The students are currently using Sharpie markers to  finish their designs.  All of the sticks will be put together to create a mural of all of our students ideas.  Keep your eyes open for this mural in the front hallway!  Kindergarteners will be creating sticks soon!
